How Biases and Stereotypes are Preventing You from Hiring the Best Team
with Punam V. Saxena
The Growing your Team Podcast: Episode 107
Building a workplace with empowered team members begins by placing a greater value in children. Punam V. Saxena shares the importance of this practice in her book “Parent Power.” In this episode Punam goes beyond this by showing how to further lift up employees by celebrating diversity.
Diversity goes beyond just filling out a checked box on a job posting. It’s important that your company looks at all the numerous categories that exist in the term diversity to embrace differences in work culture and in life.
In this Episode You’ll Hear:
- The value that work experience holds over a college degree in unrelated fields.
- How to shift focus on one’s capabilities rather than the categories they fit into.
- Why empowering young children can reflect over to the workplace by teaching employees how to stand up for themselves.
- How to retain your employees by making their voice feel valued.
- If the categories you list on job postings actually serve as benefits to finding the best candidate.
- Ways to be aware of your biases in order to create support within your company to allow diversity to thrive.
